DVD label Cine Asia has unleashed two explosive Hong Kong classics, and they kindly offered us three sets of these DVDs as competition prizes! The first release is “Kill Zone”, an award-winning police action-thriller that packs quite a punch. This is a very modern martial arts movie, and stars two giants of the genre - Donnie Yen and Sammo Hung. Yen, best known to British audiences for his roles in “Shanghai Knights” and “Iron Monkey”, is Ma Kwun, a fearsome cop who finds himself dragged into a deadly war between gangsters and his shady colleagues.

Hung (Martial Law, “Dragons Forever”) is gang leader Wong Po, a slippery customer who escapes justice and then marshals all of his resources to take down the detective (Simon Yam) who tried to get him locked up. The resulting bloody war between the two sides culminates in an unmissable, bone-crunching showdown between Yen and Hung.

Kill Zone on DVD“Kill Zone” (directed in 2005 by supremo Wilson Yip – he of “Ip Man” fame), was released on DVD and Blu-ray by Cine Asia on 8 March 2010. Both versions include a whole raft of special features such as a making-of documentary, an interview gallery and a feature commentary by genre expert Bey Logan. Both versions also include an optional English 5.1 soundtrack.

“Fist of Legend” is the stunning second release, starring the mighty Jet Li (“Lethal Weapon 4”, “The Forbidden Kingdom”, “Kiss of the Dragon”). The movie is a masterful remake of Bruce Lee’s “Fist of Fury”. Li is Chen Zhen, a peerless kung fu student who returns home after studying abroad to find his homeland devastated by the occupying Japanese. To make matters worse, his old martial arts school has been disbanded following the mysterious defeat of his beloved master, again at the hands of the Japanese. Chen holds his head high amongst his beaten comrades, and vows to uncover the truth behind his tutor’s death. His destructive path leads him into a series of deadly battles with some of Japan’s most formidable fighters, but he will stop at nothing to restore his people’s dignity.

Fist of Legend DVDFans of the genre will be delighted to hear that the fight choreography is handled by none-other than Yuen Woo-Ping of “The Matrix Trilogy” and “Kill Bill” fame!

“Fist of Legend” (directed by Gordon Chan in 1994) will be released by Cine Asia on 22 March 2010 on DVD (£17.99) and Blu-ray (£24.99). Both these titles can be secured at bargain prices at
