These are some of the questions we had most frequently asked about the Cult TV Festival Weekender, which we hope will also answer your queries for the CIneology Weekender ...

Q: I’ve never been to a convention before, what can I expect?

A: While the Cineology Weekenders may look like they have much in common with many media conventions staged around the world, we aim to offer a far wider variety of activities than you are likely to see elsewhere. Those who have been to other conventions quickly appreciate the difference with a Cineology Weekender. If you like a wide variety of TV series, want to find out more about them (perhaps you are an avid fan of Blu-ray/DVD extras?), realise that those behind the camera can tell you as much about a show as those in front of the camera, and like the idea of escaping out of a mundane world for the best part of four days (Friday to Monday), then we could very well be the holiday break of your dreams!

With interviews on the Spotlight Stage and the Festival Stage, Workshops, Fan Activities, and Screenings running concurrently, at Cineology you are unlikely to encounter a dull moment - if you do, go and seek assistance from our Information Desk, who will help you out.

If you are new to conventions, all we ask as organisers is be prepared to have a good time and make new friends. Cineology provides ice-breakers on the Friday afternoon designed to encourage just that, and a special welcome that helps first-timers make the most of their weekend.

Rest assured, if you love television, you’ll love our Weekender. Being a TV expert is by no means a requirement to having a fun time with us! Let us help you take control of your telly!

Q: Why book early for the Cineology Weekender?

A: As a new event, we are expecting a high early take-up for bookings, and we also only have a limited number of places available. In addition, those taking the "Club" booking option will be called in booking order for avaiable autographs.  Book now to avoid disappointment!

In addition, attendees signed up by 1st July get the chance to nominate candidates for the annual Cult TV Awards. Those who register before 1st August 2010 get the chance to vote in the Awards themselves.

Q: Do I have to wear fancy dress or a costume to attend the Cineology Weekender?

A: Definitely not. Despite the way the media portray media conventions, most folk spend the weekend in casual clothes. We do encourage some dressing up for our nightly themed parties, but this is not compulsory – dress in what you feel comfortable in.

Q: Why do you start at so early on Friday?

A: With such a full schedule of events we start as early as we can to cram as much into the weekend as possible. An early start allows the Production Team to give you the best show possible, and most UK-based attendees can get to the venue in time.

In fact the Weekender registration begins from 10.30am on the Friday morning. Although the accommodation will not be available until the afternoon, a cloakroom facility is set aside to store luggage.

Q: Do I have to stay for the whole of the Weekender?

A: Although the Weekender takes place from Friday until Monday, you can arrive later and leave earlier if you need to. However, since the celebrity talent will not be staying for the entire weekend, depending on the scheduling you may miss a star by not being present for the full programme. Besides, why not treat it as a holiday? It's how most people get the maximum enjoyment out of it...

Q: Will I get celebrity autographs, and how much will they cost?

A: Our policy is to ask guests not to charge for autographing the Weekender’s glossy brochure, given away free to everyone who books. "CLub" members will get a couple of free autographs on items you bring with you or buy at the Weekender. Many of our celebrities will bring along their own photographs and other related merchandise available for purchase that they will sign for you, - and these they will sign for "Classic" members at an additional small charge.

Depending on the Weekender scheduling we cannot guarantee that everyone will get every autograph they want. Due to time constraints during the weekend we also reserve the right to restrict the number of autographs available per person.

Q: What happens if an advertised celebrity star talent cancels?

A: The last thing we want is to disappoint any of you, which is why we always make it clear that all our stars join us subject to work and personal commitments. If we lose a star through their work schedules we will try and replace them with a star with a similar background.

Q: What are your rules on video filming?

A: Currently we allow anyone to film at the Weekender, subject to them signing a copyright release form prior to the Weekender, and agreeing to forward a copy of their footage within 30 days of the end of the Weekender.

We must stress that we take a very dim view to the filming of actual programmes or clips screened during the Weekender, as this is not only illegal but against the express wishes of the owners of the material in question.

Q: What if I have food allergies/special needs?

A: As with most establishments, if you advise our venue in advance, then they will do their best to accommodate your needs.
